You can schedule PixARK Steam updates from the control panel so the server checks for updates automatically. Schedule updates for a quiet time because the task may stop or restart the server while it runs.
Create the scheduled task
- Log in to your game control panel and open the PixARK server.
- Open Scheduled Tasks.
- Create a new task and select Steam Update as the action.
- Give the task a clear name, such as Daily Steam Update.
- Choose how often the task should run. A daily schedule is usually enough for most servers.
- Set the task to recur every 1 day.
- Save the task.
Check it is working
After the next scheduled run, open the task history or server console and check that the Steam update completed without errors. If your server uses mods, test joining after updates because game or mod updates can occasionally require extra restarts.
If you prefer to control downtime manually, run Steam Update from the panel yourself instead of scheduling it.
Before updating
Create a backup first if the server has active progress, custom configuration, or mods. Tell players before restarting so nobody is disconnected during the update.
After updating
Start the server, check the console for startup errors, and join with an updated client. If the server uses mods, confirm the mods support the new game version before assuming the update failed.
