How to Increase how many players can join your Minecraft Server or Game Server

Expanding server slots is a key step in enhancing your game server's capacity, allowing more players to join your server at the same time. Note that for a lot of our game hosting we separate the processing and memory resources so if you are upgrading your slots to get more memory on the server for mods, this will not give you more – with exceptions, for example upgrading Terraria Servers, Factorio Servers, Don’t Starve Together servers and some others will give you more memory as you upgrade slots.

Some games come with a fixed number of slots, such as Astroneer Servers, Sons of the Forest Servers, Valheim Servers and more. In these cases, you can set the number of players to anything, however, note that usually in these cases the developers have put hard limits in place and you will only be able to allow less players rather than more.

Minecraft Servers do not need slot upgrades as you can adjust the number of players that can join in your control panel to whatever number you want! We suggest an amount that is your servers RAM in MB divided by 128. If you run out of resources, you will need to upgrade your package instead.

If you’re unsure what you might need to upgrade your server, we’re here on the support tickets with fast replies, 24/7. We have discord too where the community or our staff can help you too.

Here’s how you can upgrade how many players can join your server:

  1. Access the Client Area: Begin by logging into your client area on the server hosting platform. This is your primary control centre for managing your game server.
  2. Navigate to Products and Services: In the client area, locate and click on the 'Products and Services' section. Here, you'll see a list of all your hosted servers. Select the server that you intend to upgrade.
  3. Locate Upgrade/Downgrade Options: On your server's management page, find the 'Upgrade/Downgrade Options'. This option is typically located on the left side of the page. Clicking on it will direct you to the area where you can modify your server's settings.
  4. Adjust Slot Counts: Within the upgrade/downgrade options, find the 'Slots' setting. Here, you're able to change the number of slots for your server. For DayZ servers, the slot increments are usually available in multiples of 10. Select the number of slots that best fit your server's requirements.
  5. Confirm and Apply Changes: After setting the new slot count, follow the on-screen instructions to confirm and apply your changes. This step might include an overview of additional costs or agreement terms, depending on your hosting provider.

Increasing the number of slots on your game server is a simple yet impactful way to boost your server's hosting capabilities. This enhancement not only allows more players to join but also contributes to a more dynamic and engaging gaming environment. Should you need any assistance or have questions, your server hosting provider's support team is always available to help.
