This is an archived 7 Days to Die article for the old A17.1 Experimental build. Do not use it for current 7 Days to Die stable servers unless support has specifically told you to install this legacy branch.
Before installing a legacy build
- Back up the server first.
- Expect old maps, mods, and configs to be incompatible with newer versions.
- Tell players that the server will be offline while the legacy build is installed.
Install A17.1 Experimental
- Open your 7 Days to Die server in the control panel.
- Stop the server.
- Open the Actions tab.
- Click Reinstall if you need a clean legacy install. Mods and A16 maps are not supported by this old branch.
- When the reinstall finishes, open Mods Manager.
- Install 7D2D Experimental.
- Open Configuration Files and edit the A17.1 config file. Do not use the A16 configuration editor for this branch.
- Start the server.
Updating
Use Steam Update for server updates after the branch is installed. If you are trying to run a current 7 Days to Die server, use the normal stable install instead of this archived A17.1 guide.
