How do I generate a Steam Auth Token (GSLT, Game Server Login Token) for my server?

Some Steam games require a Game Server Login Token, usually shortened to GSLT. The token authenticates your server with Steam. Generate tokens only from the Steam account that will own and manage the server token.

  1. Open Steam Game Server Account Management and sign in.
  2. Find the game's Steam App ID. Use the game App ID, not the dedicated-server tool App ID.
  3. Enter the App ID in the token creation form.
  4. Add a memo so you can identify which server the token belongs to later.
  5. Create the token and copy it.
  6. Paste the token into the matching GSLT, login token, or Steam token field in your server configuration.
  7. Save the configuration and restart the server.

Example: Unturned's game App ID is 304930. Do not use the separate dedicated-server tool App ID when Steam asks for the game App ID.

Keep the token private. If a token is exposed or reused incorrectly, return to Steam's management page, delete the old token, generate a new one, and restart the server with the replacement value.

If you are unsure which App ID or control-panel field to use, submit a support ticket with the game name and server name.

Keep the value safe

Copy the ID or token exactly as shown. Do not add spaces, quotes, or extra characters when pasting it into the control panel or a configuration file.

If it is rejected

Generate a fresh value and try again. For Steam login tokens, make sure the Steam account and app ID match the game server you are configuring.
