Reinstalling a 7 Days to Die server replaces the installed server files from the control panel. Treat it as a destructive maintenance action: take a backup first if you need to keep saves, configuration files, mods, or custom uploads.

Before you reinstall

  • Tell players that the server will be offline while the reinstall runs.
  • Take a fresh backup from the control panel before changing anything.
  • If you use mods or custom configuration files, download a copy of those files as well.

Reinstall the server

  1. Open your 7 Days to Die server in the control panel.
  2. Click Stop and wait for the server to stop.

  4. Open the Actions tab or menu.
  5. Click Reinstall.
  6. Read the confirmation prompt carefully, then confirm the reinstall only when you are sure you have a backup.
  7. Wait for the reinstall task to finish before starting the server again.
  8. Start the server and check the console or log viewer for startup errors.

After reinstalling

If the server starts with a fresh world or missing settings, stop the server and restore your backup or re-upload the files you saved before the reinstall. Do not run repeated reinstalls if you are trying to recover data.

If you are not sure whether your save or configuration should survive a reinstall, submit a support ticket before confirming it.
