How to make your Medieval Engineers server private

You can make a Medieval Engineers server private by restricting it to a Steam group. Only members of that Steam group will be able to join after the setting is applied.

Restrict the server to a Steam group

  1. Create a Steam group if you do not already have one.
  2. Open the group page, for example https://steamcommunity.com/groups/YOURGROUPNAME.
  3. Copy the Steam group ID.
  4. Log in to your control panel and open the Medieval Engineers server.
  5. Open Configuration Files, then the configuration editor.
  6. Paste the group ID into Steam Group ID.
  7. Save the change and restart the server.

After the restart, test with an account that is in the Steam group. If players still cannot join, confirm they are members of the correct group and that the group ID was copied correctly.
