How to enable persistent worlds in Medieval Engineers

Persistent worlds keep the selected Medieval Engineers world loaded between restarts instead of starting from a fresh or different world. Enable this from the world configuration, then restart the service.

Enable persistence

  1. Log in to your game control panel and open the Medieval Engineers server.
  2. Stop the server.
  3. Open Configuration Files.
  4. Open the configuration editor for the world settings.
  5. Select the world you want the server to use.
  6. Enable or select the Persistent option for that world.
  7. Save the configuration.
  8. Start the server.

Check the correct world loads

Join the server after restart and confirm the same world, grids, and player progress are present. If the server loads a different world, stop the server and check that the selected world name matches the save folder you intended to use.

Troubleshooting

  • If the option is missing, check whether your service is using an older configuration template.
  • If the world resets, restore a backup before making more changes.
  • If you have several worlds with similar names, rename or archive old saves so the active world is obvious.
