Medieval Engineers restricts a private dedicated server through a Steam group. Once the group ID is set, only members of that group can join.

  1. Create a Steam group, or open the group you already use for the server.
  2. Replace GROUPNAME in https://steamcommunity.com/groups/GROUPNAME/memberslistxml/?xml=1 with the name from your group URL.
  3. Open that address and copy the number between <groupID64> and </groupID64>.
  4. Stop the server, open Configuration Files, then click Text Editor beside MedievalEngineers-Dedicated.cfg.

  5. Replace the value inside <GroupID> with the numeric Steam group ID, without changing the XML tags.
  6. Click Save & Exit and start the server.

Test with a Steam account that belongs to the group. If a player was only just added, ask them to restart Steam before trying again.
