How to back up your Conan Exiles server

Create a Conan Exiles backup before wiping the world, restoring files, installing mods, or making large configuration changes. A backup gives you a rollback point if the server does not start cleanly afterwards.

  1. Open your Conan Exiles server in the control panel.
  2. Check whether players are online. If possible, stop the server before backing up busy worlds.
  3. Click Backup Server from the left menu.
  4. Confirm the backup task and wait for it to complete before making changes.
  5. For world-database work, you can also check File Manager > Saved. The live database is game_0.db, and automatic backup files use names such as game_0_backup_1.db.

When to take a fresh backup

  • Before using Wipe Server.
  • Before replacing game_0.db with a backup database.
  • Before installing or removing Workshop mods.
  • Before editing server settings that affect progression or access.
