If something goes wrong with your Hytale Server Hosting, you may want to restore it back to a known good point. You can do this by restoring a backup, in this guide we'll explain how to do this.
There are a few types of backup your Hytale server might have, the first of which is our built-in backup system on our control panel. The second is uploading a zip file backup from your PC and extracting it, overwriting the files. The third is using our system backups, which might not always be available but we'll try our best to locate a backup should you need one, to get started with with restoring from our backups you'll have to submit a ticket to us.
Restore a control panel backup.
To restore a backup on the control panel, locate the one you wish to restore then click the three little dots on the right. This will open a menu that lets you download, restore, lock and delete a backup. The option you'll want to choose here is the Restore one.

You will then get a popup on your screen to confirm, for most restores you'll want to delete all the existing files. You have the option to leave everything there and just overwrite files that are in the backup should you want that.
Click on the Restore button to start the job. It can take some time depending on the size of your backup.

That's it! Your server is now restored to your backup.
Restore a backup uploaded from your PC
First step, lets get the backup we want to restore uploaded. Note, you can do this using SFTP too if you prefer, this guide will show you how to do it on the drag and drop uploader.
To get started, locate the backup on your file explorer on your computer, this screenshot is from windows but it'll look very much the same on Linux or MacOS.

Then go to files on your Hytale Server Hostings control panel, if you want to delete all the files first then select the check box next to /home/container and click delete before uploading.
If you just want to overwrite the files, don't worry about clearing them out.

Now that you have you have deleted, or not deleted your files, it's time to drag and drop your backup file into the file browser.
I chose not to delete the existing files on my Hytale rental, which is why they're in this screenshot below.

Then wait for it to upload, you'll see a little icon next to create directory for this. If you click it you'll get the progress popup, then sit back and relax a bit while the circle goes around!
The speed in which the backup uploads will depend heavily on your internet connection, all our nodes for Hytale Server Hosting are connected on blazingly fast 1Gbps or sometimes even 10Gbps internet connections.

Once uploaded, click on the three little dots on the right of the zip archive you uploaded,. then select unarchive.

That's it! You've now successfully restored from a backup that was on your PC!!
Now you can jump straight back into Hytale with your restored world, settings, mods, whatever! Enjoy adventuring, crafting and building on your Hytale Server Hosting.
