Change the server password when you want to limit access to invited players, rotate an old password, or temporarily lock the server while you test a world or config change. Enshrouded stores the password in enshrouded_server.json, and the change applies after the server has restarted.

The password controls who can join the server. It is separate from any control panel login, so changing it does not affect your panel account or other services.

  1. Open your Enshrouded server in the control panel.
  2. Click Configuration Files.
  3. Find enshrouded_server.json, then click Config Editor.

  4. Enter the new password in Server Password.

  5. Click Save & Exit.
  6. Restart the server.

To remove the password, clear the Server Password field, save, and restart. If you use Text Editor instead, keep the JSON formatting valid and only change the password value inside the quotes. After restarting, give the browser a few minutes to update before testing the new password.
