Adding Datapacks to your Minecraft server

If you would like to add some tweaks and adjustments to your Minecraft Server without getting into Modded Minecraft, then Datapacks are perfect! Here's how to get one installed on your server.

Download the Datapack

  • Find a datapack you want to use from a reputable source (like Planet Minecraft or the Minecraft forums).
  • A great site to get datapacks from is called Vanilla Tweaks, they have Resource Packs too!
  • Download the datapack ZIP file.

Locate Your Server Files

  • We suggest using Filezilla to upload files as there is no time limit and it's faster, we have a guide for this: How to connect to FTP on your server.
  • You can also access them via the Multicraft panel in File Manager.

Navigate to the World Folder

  • Navigate to the folder of the world that you want to install the datapack onto.
  • If you have not changed your worlds name, this is simply called World.

Upload the Datapack

  • Inside your world folder, locate or create a folder named datapacks.
  • Unzip the downloaded datapack file and move the contents (the folder inside the ZIP) into the datapacks folder.

Load the Datapack

  • You now need to restart the server to load the datapack.
  • If you run into issues here, the best place to look is in the console.
  • You can verify if the datapack is loaded by using the command to display a list of all active datapacks:
    • /datapack list
  • When running the command in the console, you don't need the slash at the front.

Enjoy!

  • Once it’s confirmed that the datapack is active, you can start playing with the new features!

Troubleshooting

  • If the datapack isn’t working, check for any compatibility issues with your Minecraft version or ensure it’s properly installed.
  • Feel free to open a ticket with us if we can help you with this, we're always available and happy to help with your Minecraft server.
