A custom domain lets players join your Minecraft server using a name such as play.example.com instead of copying the panel address and port.
Point a domain at the server
- Copy the server IP address and port from your control panel.
- In your DNS provider, create an
Arecord for the hostname you want to use and point it to the server IP address. - If your Minecraft Java server does not use the default port, create an
SRVrecord so Java Edition players can join without typing the port. - Wait for DNS to update, then test the address in Minecraft.
If you only want a quick panel subdomain, use the built-in subdomain option instead: How to add a subdomain to your Minecraft server on Ptero.
Bedrock Edition does not use Java SRV records in the same way. For Bedrock, players normally need the server IP or hostname and the correct Bedrock port.
