Update your Enshrouded server when the game receives a new release, when players cannot join because their game client is newer than the server, or when you are troubleshooting version mismatch errors. The Steam Update tool downloads the latest dedicated server files through SteamCMD and should be run before you assume a config or save problem is causing join issues.
Before updating, take a backup. Enshrouded updates are normally safe, but a backup gives you a restore point if an update fails, a world behaves unexpectedly, or you need to roll back after testing a change.
- Open your Enshrouded server in the control panel.
- Take a backup first: How to Backup Your Enshrouded Server.
- Click Steam Update.
- Wait for the update task to finish. Do not close the task while SteamCMD is still downloading or validating files.
- Start or restart the server.
- Check Web Console or Log Viewer if the server does not start normally.
If players still cannot see the server after updating, confirm the server is running, confirm their game client is also updated, and allow a few minutes for the server browser to refresh. If the server was already running when the update was started, restart it after the update so the new files are loaded.
